Ships[edit | edit source]

Main article: Ship

All types of ships share certain UI features. Specifically, the fleet selection top bar always has the merge, stop, return, move, jump, patrol, and close UI buttons, though these are not always useable. All types of ship UI also have a goto, disband fleet, close fleet UI, and return for repairs button. Additionally, the ship or fleet's owner and name, its hull, armor and shield points, and its current orders are shown.

Military Fleet[edit | edit source]

Military Fleet UI

Military ships are used to protect an empire from threats or to expand its rule through force of arms. Military ships are organized into fleets which can be led by an Admiral.png admiral.
In addition to the general ship UI, the military fleet UI has the take point and fleet manager buttons. The fleet UI also shows the fleet's piracy suppression value, the command limit used and fleet power. Additionally, if an admiral is assigned to the fleet, their level, experience and traits can be seen here. The fleet's bombardment and fleet stances can also be set here, as can the fleet's home starbase. Finally, the military fleet UI has the reinforce, split, reorganize, and upgrade buttons. The design and other details of individual ships can be viewed by clicking the magnifying glass icon.

The ship details UI lists the ship's name, design and class, stats, and modules.

Science Ship[edit | edit source]

Science Ship UI

Science ships are used to survey celestial bodies such as planets in a star system as well as research anomalies or special projects. A science ship must be led by a Scientist.png scientist in order to perform any of its functions.
In addition to the general ship UI, the science ship UI shows the level, experience, and traits of its assigned scientist, and science ship specific orders.

Construction Ships[edit | edit source]

Construction ships are used to build structures, including starbases and stations. Most structures can be built only in an empires owned systems.

Transport Ship[edit | edit source]

When armies are ordered into space, they automatically embark on transport ships, which appear in orbit.

Starbase[edit | edit source]

Starbases determine ownership of star systems and also act as the basic military defense for the system.

Research Station[edit | edit source]

A research station built in orbit of a planetary body will gather its physics, engineering and society research. They can only be built within owned systems, and they can not be built around colonized planets.

Mining Station[edit | edit source]

Mining stations are used to extract the Minerals.png minerals, Energy.png energy, or Menu icon strategic resource.png strategic resources of the object they orbit. Mining stations are not needed to access the resources of colonized planets, and can only be built in owned systems.

Observation Post[edit | edit source]

Observation Post UI

Observation posts house teams of scientists conducting research and remotely observing primitive civilizations on the planets they orbit.
The observation policy can be set from this UI. Additionally, the primitive civilization can be enlightened or infiltrated.

Megastructure[edit | edit source]

Megastructures are colossal projects which provide massive benefits to their owner.
Some megastructures are colonizable and therefore use the planet interface rather than the regular megastructure interface.
