Heinlein minor DLC[edit]

Should there be any mention of the upcoming scripted content DLC that's coming with the 1.3 Heinlein patch, or are we waiting for the title to be officially announced and/or more info than just the War In heaven scripted content to be revealed about it? - Inawordyes (talk) 21:06, 7 September 2016 (CEST)

Generally, the DLC page should contain info deriving mostly from the DLC's store page - or if not available then from the press-release - to avoid confusion as to what it contains. If possible, make sure to include links to the store page at PDX or Steam. ~ SolSys (talk) 21:31, 7 September 2016 (CEST)

Integrated DLCs[edit]

Horizon Signal and Sign-up Campaign are no longer independent DLCs, but integrated directly into the base game. Do they still have place on the list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Korodikrisz (talk) 13:58, 7 December 2018 (CET) (Sorry, I didn't know I have to add it maually) Korodikrisz (talk) 14:50, 7 December 2018 (CET)

Downloadable content (DLC) is content built by Paradox Development Studio (PDS) as an extension or add-on to Stellaris. They are modular in nature, which means that a player can choose to play with or without a given DLC by checking them out at the launch menu. An expansion DLC is normally accompanied by a free patch that gives players most of the new content as not to hinder the playability of the game. As such, most DLCs are seen as optional content for players who wish to have a better gaming experience in exchange for some monetary support.

Multiplayer games also benefit from this compatibility, that is to say if the host has a gameplay DLC (expansions and flavor packs) the player does not, the game acts as if the player has it.

Base game
The base game is required for any and all DLC relating to the game. While cosmetic/music DLCs can be used with any game version, content DLCs can't be used prior to the version they were released with.

The base game is available in 2 enhanced editions which consist of e-books, game soundtrack and some forum bonuses (along with one species portrait). To see a more detailed description of the individual DLCs scroll down to their appropriate section (music, cosmetic, e-book).

Expansions
Story Packs
Expansions is Stellaris can be divided into Major Expansions and Story Packs.

Major Expansions change the game considerably and typically introduce multiple new gameplay features as well as a range of smaller improvements.

Story Packs are smaller expansions that typically have fewer major features and more focus on adding flavour and depth to a particular area of the game.

Both types of expansion are always accompanied by a free patch that introduces further gameplay features, reworks, and balance improvements.

Ancient Ruins[edit]

I've added the section for the DLC, however, I didn't have enough permissions to add links to stores + small icon for the DLC is needed.

The DLCs have 90% description, and 1% D, whatever that is. Suppose that 1% D is meant to be 10% Downloads, and the links on the bottom should be in that cell? Korodikrisz (talk) 12:21, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing it out. With all the fuss with of changing to the new format I forgot to add an explaination for that. "D" is for chronological sorting with the main column used for default alphabetical sorting. I'll add a note when possible (currently on the move). ~ SolSys (talk) 07:11, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Categories are flat-out wrong[edit]

By official definition, there has been only been 4 "Expansions" , which are Utopia, Apocalypse, Megacorp and Federations. Other ones are either "Story packs", which include Synthetic Dawn and Ancient Relics for example. Can someone please sort out the categories better?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:14ba:27d4:4800:f4be:7b73:a5e9:12d3 (talk) 23:19, 14 May 2020‎ (UTC)

While I agree that some DLCs are defined as expansions and other as story packs in this context they simply meant as gameplay altering DLCs. If users feel it to e confusing then it could be changed later on. In the future, please sign your comments with ~~~~. ~ SolSys (talk) 20:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
