Using icon/iconify with entries that don't exist[edit source]

Hi. I really appreciate everything you did on the wiki, you've been really dedicated. But one issue that must definitely be avoided is using icon/iconify without adding the icon entries on the template pages first. It creates some really visible errors. I just fixed the ones on the buildings page by adding the missing icon entries. Probably the best example on how it looks with all the errors is the Template:Icon/doc page itself that you've updated. When previewing/publishing your edits please have a look if all icons are displayed without errors and if they aren't make adding the icon entries the first priority, otherwise we get a wiki with errors. I'm really glad we have your help, just be careful with the icon entries :) Kami-sama (talk) 15:20, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

  • Sure! I was figuring that I should minimize the number of edits I make and leaving placeholders in for when I update icons in batches, but the page I'm throwing together here will make it easier to just drop things in as they come up. --SirBlackAxe (talk) 23:59, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi folks -- an important thing to note when adding new entries to the icon template is how often an icon is going to be used. If an icon is going to be used only a couple of times, and in a specific page, it is best to directly link the file. The reasoning is the that templates are being called as a whole each time they are used. If they are being loaded with one-time use icons it means they become more "expensive" to use and lead to slower page loads. Due to this please use caution when adding new icons. • I'll keep that in mind! Is there a way to track how often an icon is used? There are certainly a bunch of obsolete ones you might be able to eliminate. --SirBlackAxe (talk) 23:59, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Obsolete entries in icon sub-templates[edit source]

You have commented out the obsolete entries in the icon sub-templates. These entries were not removed because they are used in older pages of the wiki. These versions of pages can no longer be viewed without error messages from the template. Could you please undo your edits. – Lillebror (talk) 15:23, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

Alright. I thought I was pretty careful to only comment out icons used exclusively on the icon template page that lists all existing icons, and not ones used in any way outside of documenting their existence. User:SolSys said not to implement icons with a low number of use cases, so I figured it made sense to remove the ones with no use cases.--SirBlackAxe (talk) 02:00, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. – Lillebror (talk) 09:31, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Game modifier code to icon list[edit source]

Hello, do you have a test document list of all of the game modifier codes to the stellaris wiki icon codes? I am trying to write a script that can extract information from the game files and I dont want to write a new text document form something that already exists (if it does that is). - The Q)(talk) 11:49, 13 December 2021 (GMT-6)

Best I can offer you is Template:Icon/doc and ID. --SirBlackAxe (talk) 19:02, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
If I make the list in a text document, is there a place that I can upload the document? Maybe create a page for it? -The Q (talk) 20:08, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
I'm not sure, ask in the wiki thread on the forums and one of the mods might be able to give you an answer. --SirBlackAxe (talk) 20:32, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello, could you please copy special:permalink/66692#Job category to Jobs? 2A01:CB14:D52:1200:E1AE:A0BD:3921:BBCC 09:09, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Table within a table[edit source]

Hi there. Please try to avoid as much as possible from placing a table within a table. While it looks nice and neat on a desktop sized screen factor it does not translate well to mobile and other small screen factors. ~ SolSys (talk) 18:52, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
