Players that have the Utopia.png Utopia DLC activated are able to construct colossal objects called megastructures. Expensive and time-consuming, these remarkable feats of engineering are nonetheless important wonders that provide enormous bonuses, demonstrating the technological and economical primacy of the builders' empire.

To unlock a megastructure it is first required to research Tech mega engineering.png mega engineering and then to pick the relevant type of ascension perk.

It is only possible to upgrade a megastructure at a time.

Dyson Sphere

Dyson Sphere.

These multi-staged, truncated icosahedron shaped structures harness the energy output of a star. A fully constructed Dyson Sphere provides a whopping +400 Energy Credits.png energy.

All rocky planets/moons in the system turn into frozen or cold barren worlds upon its completion. This is meant to represent the lack of thermal radiation they would receive considering the star has been completely encased.

The project takes 55 years to complete and a grand total of 300 Influence.png and 210 000 Minerals.png minerals will need to be spent.

Requires the (unrecognized string “galactic wonders” for Template:Icon) galactic wonders ascension perk and there mustn't be habitable world in the system. The following list showcases the upgrade order.

Note: At the moment the amount of Energy Credits.png energy provided does not vary between different star types.

Strategy

Having the (unrecognized string “master builders” for Template:Icon) master builders ascension perk shortens the time to build a Dyson Sphere to about 37 years, saving around 75 Influence.png and 52 500 Minerals.png in the end.

Habitats

Mammalian habitat.

An artificial planet in all but name, these Habitats offer 12 tiles to work on coupled with 100% Mod habitability.png habitability for all residing species. Its graphical model is dependent on the builders' species type.

It has the peculiarity of having a unique set of buildings distinct from normal planetary ones.

The project takes 5 years to complete and a total of 100 Influence.png and 5 000 Minerals.png minerals will need to be spent.

Requires the (unrecognized string “voidborne” for Template:Icon) voidborne ascension perk and it cannot be built on habitable planets, asteroids nor in any type of moon.

Strategy

Having the (unrecognized string “master builders” for Template:Icon) master builders ascension perk shortens the time to build a Habitat to about 3 years, saving around 25 Influence.png and 1 250 Minerals.png in the end.

Ring World

Ring world.

Immense in both radii and scope, these Ring Worlds encircle the systems' sun and award their owner four, 25 tile sized sections when fully constructed. Its carefully designed ecosystem and finely-tuned atmosphere imply excellent living conditions towards all higher forms of life. This is to say, all residing species will be benefited with 100% Mod habitability.png habitability.

The project takes close to 28 years to complete and a grand total of 300 Influence.png and 50 000 Minerals.png minerals will need to be spent.

It can't be built on black holes, pulsar or neutron stars nor in asteroid only systems. All planets in the system are consumed upon the completion of one of its four sections.

Requires the (unrecognized string “the circle of life” for Template:Icon) the circle of life ascension perk and there mustn't be habitable worlds in the system. The following list showcases the upgrade order.

Type Upkeep Time Cost
Ring World Site.png Site -5 Energy Credits.png 1 800 Time 300 Influence.png
10 000 Minerals.png
100px Frame None 4 800 Time 20 000 Minerals.png
Ring World Habitable.png Completed Section None 3 600 Time 20 000 Minerals.png

Strategy

Having the (unrecognized string “master builders” for Template:Icon) master builders ascension perk shortens the time to build a Ring World to about 19 years, saving around 75 Influence.png and 12 500 Minerals.png in the end.

Science Nexus

Science Nexus.

The project takes close to 25 years to complete and a grand total of 300 Influence.png and 70 000 Minerals.png minerals will need to be spent.

Requires the (unrecognized string “galactic wonders” for Template:Icon) galactic wonders ascension perk and it cannot be built on habitable planets, asteroids nor in any type of moon.

Strategy

Having the (unrecognized string “master builders” for Template:Icon) master builders ascension perk shortens the time to build a Ring World to about 17 years, saving around 75 Influence.png and 17 500 Minerals.png in the end.

Sentry Array

Sentry Array.
