## Anyone knows how anomalies are generated?Edit

Does anyone know how the anomalies over different planets are generated? So far, my observations seem to say that either there's a fairly large chance that a surveying scientist overlooks an anomaly, or they only exist for the empire who discovers them, as AI ships have been ignoring "my" anomalies as they survey the planets which I've discovered but not yet researched anomalies on. It also seems possible to discover anomalies on planets which other players (should) already have surveyed, but it's never happened to me without a scientist with the Meticulous trait. ## Does Anyone Know what the Actual discovery chance formula is?Edit

I know it says the percent chance is .5%, but is that .5% chance per survey? That doesn't seem right based on my experience. I've seen a reddit post saying that it adds .5% per survey, so:

- 0.5 + (0.5 * Y) = X

where Y = number of surveys since last anomaly found and X = total Discovery chance.

Then you have to add in the discovery tradition perk, which is +20%. But it doesn't say where the 20% is added

- (0.5 + (0.5 * Y)) + 20 = X

or is it multiplied.

- (0.5 + (0.5 * Y)) * 20 = X

I have a mod that has a trait that gives +100% discovery chance, but while I'm finding a lot of anomalies, not everything has one. Does +100% just double your chance of finding one or does not everything have an anomaly possible.

- It's 5% per planet and increases by 0.5% for every surveyed planet with no anomaly. The latter percentage gets reset after you find one. Here's what 00_defines.txt says:

- ANOMALY_SPAWN_CHANCE = 0.050# Percent chance that a planet gets a discovery when surveyed
- ANOMALY_SPAWN_CHANCE_INCREMENT = 0.005# Percentage increase towards next chance when failing

- I'm glad the devs add commentaries to everything in that file. I'm not sure about the tradition tree bonus yet but I think it's multiplied. I haven't paid too much attention to how many anomalies I find before and after but I don't remember finding one every 5 celestial bodies or so. Kami-sama (talk) 11:31, 10 June 2018 (CEST)

- I ran three tests to see what the numbers mean, and I'm pretty sure the spawn chance formula is
- where is
*ANOMALY_SPAWN_CHANCE*, is*ANOMALY_SPAWN_CHANCE_INCREMENT*, and is the is the sum of all anomaly discovery chance bonuses (the*ship_anomaly_generation_chance_mult*value, from Map The Stars, Discovery opener, meticulous scientist, etc...). (Edit: And is the number of bodies surveyed without finding an anomaly so far.) - The three tests I ran were:
- Set to 1. This didn't make that much of an impact, so it showed that was not additive. (Otherwise everything would have an anomaly.)
- Set to 19. This made it so that every body that was scanned had an anomaly, so seems to multiply .
- Set to 0, to 0.05, and to 19. This made it so that every
*other*body that was scanned had an anomaly, so multiplies as well.

## Vultaum, Yuht and First League planet types listed are incorrectEdit

As of 2.2 (I think), Vultaumar Prime and Yuht Majoris are Broken Worlds, and Fen Habbanis III (the First League homeworld) is a Relic World. The relevant icons aren't on the wiki ATM. I could add them, but I don't know which ones to use. Hairy Dude (talk) 01:07, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
